Brighton

Brighton is deservedly England’s number one seaside town. Londoners have been travelling here since the 1750s when a shrewd doctor suggested that bathing in, and drinking, the local sea water was good for them. It’s still fine to swim here, although a little on the cold side but drinking the water is not recommended. The flavour and spirit of the town dates back to the 1780s when the music loving Prince Regent, (later George IV), built an outrageous summer palace for lavish parties by the sea.
