Below are just some of our favourites.
Slip 'n' Slide

The Slip 'n' Slide passport case is both a winner for its humorous nod to the safety instructions we all love, and possibly life-saving should your plane crash-land and you don't have one to hand. From the designer: 'You must admit that slidin' down a gignatic inflatable slide and breaking both legs looks awfully inviting'.

Oh S@*t - Duck and Cover

From the designer that brought you Slip n Slide, another passport case which owes its design to the illustrated safety instructions handed out before take-off. Says the designer: 'Our homage to the asinine assumption that one might actually survive a water landing. Seat cushion as a flotation device? Yeah Ok'.

We all have our baggage

A retro image and witty one-liner adorn this passport holder, designed by Anne Taintor and one of five different covers available from her website. Our second favourite Taintor cover, captioned 'I love not camping', also deserves a look-in.

Gas Mask

A rather odd image to have wrapped around your passport, but it's certainly different. Made from 12 gauge vinyl and therefore extremely durable, this double pocket cover also has room for cash and cards should you for some reason not have your wallet to hand.
Available to by here.
Hunter S. Thompson

If, like many others, you're a fan of late and legendary author Hunter S. Thompson, this 'Shootin' Vinyl' passport cover could be for you. Both the front and back covers are home to the image seen above and, as with the Gas Mask cover, two pockets inside offer a place for cash and cards.

Passports in Disguise

There's no need to worry about pickpockets stealing your passport anymore with these cleverly disguised faux book-cover passport holders, unless of course a pickpocket approaches who's desperate to read 'The Secret Of The Caves'. Beautifully handcrafted, four separate covers are available at the moment and would make for an extremely unique gift.

Giraffe Print

A stunning giraffe print passport cover from Dooney & Bourke. One of the more expensive options on the list but it certainly looks the part.

Take Off

A picture of a plane taking off isn't exactly the most original thing to print on a passport cover, but you have to admit it has charm. Handmade from laminated paper, a transparent window on the inside cover means your photo will always be showing.

Bread & Butter

Personally, speaking as a huge fan of both buttered bread and passports, this is the travel-based accessory I've been waiting for. And it's a snip at $18.

Wanted!

From the Modern Agent website: 'Have fun with customs officials using this Wanted! passport holder'. Whilst I think we can all agree that any customs official worth his salt would not be thrown by such a comedy passport cover, it would definitely make for a fun Christmas present.

Georg Jensen

Looking like an enormous Zippo lighter and presumably weighing a fair amount, this extremely robust-looking, stainless steel passport holder would suit the high-class traveller who has everything (apart from this of course). The price is unknown, and that worries me.
Available at the Georg Jensen website.
Tartan

For all fans of tartan - or maybe the Scottish Americans among us - these stylish passport covers, complete with U.S. stamp on the outside, are surely a must-have. Also, the red one is available at half price right now so I'd recommend hurrying.
